Art Deco Museum 2.0.
Mature for deeper experiences.
HISTORY:
In 2014, two significant events took place, and it was these events that led Karols and Petras, people from outside the field of culture or architecture, to intuitively dive into museum studies:
- a stunningly beautiful apartment at 30 Vytauto Ave., where the corridor has been transformed into a ballroom, and a call bell in the bathroom has been preserved to summon the staff
- and a meeting in the Old Town with Mrs Rita, the niece of Smetona's adjutant, an inspiring personality who radiates inter-war intelligence.
We are delighted to announce that the person who most inspired us to take a sincere interest and dive into that period of optimism, the First Republic of Lithuania, Ms Rita, will now be waiting for you at the Art Deco Museum a couple of times a week. She is ready to share her wisdom and personal experience, inherited from generation to generation, and to spend 2 wonderful hours with you in an authentic environment.
PROGRAMME:
You will be Mrs Rita's guests. You will enjoy a 1929 interior in a cosy group of 12 guests. You will socialize, read old literature. There will be music. You will listen to real and unpublished testimonies about the people who lived in this house. Ms Rita does not shy away from very difficult topics about all periods and people in our history. Complete freedom to engage and discuss.
In the dining room, you will have an exclusive opportunity to enjoy tea and drinks of the time. Especially for this experience, you will enjoy authentic gilded porcelain dishes, which are only displayed behind glass in one Lithuanian museum. The same tea service was used by the family of the composer Juozas Naujalis, which is why Mrs Rita calls it "professor's" porcelain, and you'll be staying in the house where Prof. Dr. Pranas Gudavičius and his family, and the Minister of Education of Lithuania, Prof. Vincas Čepinskis, lived between the two World Wars.
RECOMMENDATION:
The Art Deco Museum's new programme "Experience" is best suited for those who have already been on an experiential tour, are familiar with the Art Deco style, interiors, furniture and facts of the period, and would like to return to this beautiful environment for a different experience.
