Tasting experience
2024 17 gruodžio 12:00 - 14:00
25€Recommendation:
The Art Deco Museum's new "Tasting Experience" programme is most suitable for those who have already been on an experiential tour or are already familiar with the Art Deco style, interiors, furniture and facts of the period and would like to return to this beautiful environment for a new and even deeper experience.
The tasting experience is an even deeper cultural experience.
This experience is led by Mrs Rita, the niece of Smetona's adjutant, who grew up in a family of inter-war intellectuals and therefore has the best knowledge of inter-war salon culture and its backstage.
You will enjoy the authentic 1929 interior in a small cosy group of guests, while in the dining room you will find a table set with porcelain, silver and crystal and the opportunity to enjoy tea, biscuits and more, and all that is typical of Lithuanian salon culture.
It is the only museum in Lithuania that treats its guests from authentic centuries-old vessels - real museum treasures that are usually displayed only behind glass, so that guests can further experience the heritage of the First Republic of Lithuania through taste.
You will hear the wisdom of the life of the owner of this building, Prof. Dr. Pranas Gudavičius, and learn about the fate of other prominent Lithuanian citizens who lived in the house.
A rare opportunity not only to see, but also to taste the inter-war capital of Lithuania, at that time known as Little Paris.
Guest reviews:
We feasted from porcelain dishes, cut a bunch of grapes with silver scissors, tasted real croissant and had a day-to-day experience. Because we have simplified, we don't pay so much attention to details. So if somebody says there is no time machine, that is not true. It is. Today we were greeted by the elegant Mrs Rita, the niece of Smetona's adjutant. More than two hours passed in a matter of minutes.
I loved Rita's enthusiasm and charm, the wonderful stories, the recipes ... just an inspiring person. Also a general compliment to the founders of the museums - out of all the activities, classes, museums, etc. that I have been to, it is your three museums and experiences that have been the most essential key to my growing pride in Lithuania, thank you for that!
Seriously, I suggest everyone to visit the Art Deco Museum with Ms Rita, to feel the spirit of the house, to be invited guests, to be inspired by the interwar period... to hear the often tragic stories of the inhabitants. Life in turbulent times...
I enjoyed the whole event. Especially Ms Rita's culture of communication, intelligence, immediacy. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to touch the past, which allows us to rise above the pragmatic everyday life for a moment 🙂 Good luck 🙂
